How many times in the last 10 years have I received emails with some version of; “We want to go deep inside Pacaya Samiria National Reserve…we only have three days…we are on a tight budget.”

Now, for the first time ever, I can say; “Let’s go!”

You want to see wildlife. You want unspoiled rainforest with big trees. You want to eat the piranhas you catch. To see pink dolphins. You want to learn how the people that live along the river survive in remote villages. You want to have an adventure…Right?

Well let’s go…

What’s the catch?

What’s the catch? You won’t be staying in a lodge with a swimming pool, no air conditioning, no fancy cruise ship, no personal masseuse. You will be camping. You will be roughing it. You will be having an adventure.

Did I mention there will be mosquitoes and ants?

You will go several hours boat ride into Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. It’s like a different world in there. You will hardly believe your eyes and ears. Don’t expect it will be quiet. So many parrots, parakeets, and macaws squawking. The frogs can drive you nuts, along with an orchestra of insects rubbing their little legs together real fast like playing violins. Then the night birds and the monkey chorus chimes in, the dolphins sound and splash, the food chain plays itself out over and over…

Email me

Here is my email address in code; bill (at) dawnontheamazon dot com Get it?

If you email me, I guarantee to respond within 48 hours, if humanly possible. You know, “things” happen. Sometimes the internet in Iquitos is down. Sometimes I am traveling. Maybe I get sick. Maybe your email gets diverted to my spam folder. If for some reason it was not humanly possible, if you have not heard back from me in 48 hours send me another email, or leave another comment or both.

I want to communicate with you. You tell me how many are in your party, how many days you want to go, the dates of your schedule, your incoming and departing flight information, including airline, flight number, and time, what you are most interested in seeing and doing. Ask me questions. Part of my job is to provide good answers.

I will email you back to let you know if we have availability for your proposed dates, confirm your rate, and explain how to pay your deposit to make your reservation. I’ll probably send you links to articles I have written to help make your experience richer. I’ll probably make valuable suggestions, like this one; Be sure to bring insect repellant, sun screen, and personal flashlights with extra batteries.

Arriving by boat to your campsite inside Pacaya Samiria National Reserve

A few months ago a good friend of ours developed this product, and proposed it to Dawn on the Amazon Tours and Cruises. After due consideration, we sent two brothers on this camping trip inside Pacaya Samiria National Reserve for 5 days. Here is their testimonial;

“Our camping adventure was great! We did everything we wanted to do and much more. Joel organized things well and had an upbeat energy that made him fun to be around. And everyone in his crew were fantastic. We really loved that they were from 20 de Enero (and Nauta). Everything felt very authentic and real. Thanks again for helping us experience something we will never forget!”

I believe this program fills a niche that many people would want to experience, so we are helping by providing this product.
