We stayed an extra day at Paracas because we liked it so much, but the time came to move up the coast to San Bartolo and the Sol y Mar Beach Hostel. The Sol y Mar is located right on the beach and the Pacific Ocean waves were practically rolling into the hotel lobby with the cold wind, and salt water spray covered every thing.

This location could have been a good thing but because it is the off season no restaurants were open near the hotel. We called an order into a place the owner of the hotel recommended, and an hour later a young man delivered our cold meal on a bicycle. I was struck down by the Inca Atahuallpa’s Revenge, poisoned by the food, and was held hostage near the toilet. This new state of affairs was not good for a proper honeymoon. I was missing the great fresh food at La Hacienda where we stayed at Paracas, and I was missing the great fresh food back at the Dawn on the Amazon Cafe in Iquitos, but I was trapped in San Bartolo, sick as a dog.
