We celebrated Christmas at the Amazon Explorers Club with our crew.
Marmelita and I returned from our Peru vacation with barely enough time to organize the Christmas celebration for our team. Some of the best men and women in Iquitos make what I do possible and I want you to know them.
Everyone that works with Dawn on the Amazon, The Amazon Explorers Club, and the Amazon Golf Course were invited to the Amazon Explorers Club Lounge for a dinner party. Judy, the Dawn on the Amazon gourmet chef, did most of the cooking.
First we popped the corks on two bottles of champaign, and toasted our good fortune to all be together again. Then we feasted. We enjoyed Broasted chicken, the best rice ever, white rice cooked with carrots, for those who might not like the best rice ever, fried platanoes, fresh squeezed camu-camu juice, an after dinner wine, and finished off with peach juice mixed with pisco.
I paid everyone half their salary three days early, to make sure they could afford a Merry Christmas with their families. I will pay the other half Saturday on the regular payday. Hopefully they will still have money left over to start the new year.
We had a nice evening together and I think everyone left feeling the Christmas spirit. I know I did.
